There are times in our life when we feel as bright as the sun is shining outside.

The kids are getting along great, the spouse is happy, no one is arguing, and the house somehow managed to stay clean for longer than 5 minutes.

Those days are amazing! (Yay!)

Then things start creeping into your day a little bit at a time.

One of the kids may have started a fight with their sibling, you forgot about a commitment to a friend, or perhaps you just feel downright blue for some reason that day.

Having these moments of frustration adds up over time, and the last thing you want to do is become the exhausted and frustrated momma.

Then there are those times when the world feels like it’s spinning out of control.

Those moments when you wonder if your marriage is going to last. The nights you lose sleep because you’re staying up worrying over a child.

It’s in these moments that all you have is your faith in God to carry you through each day.

When these moments come (and they do to even the best of us), I would like to suggest to you 3 ways you can have faith in God during hard times.

Having Faith in God During Hard Times

1. Take Time to Feast

If I told you that just because you ate a sandwich yesterday that you should be able to function properly today, you’d look at me as if I was crazy.

Just as we are constantly feeding and caring for our physical health, we also need to dedicate and prioritize our spiritual nourishment.

For busy moms with crazy hectic lives, it’s not easy sitting down for 15 minutes (or even for 5) and really doing a deep dive into the scriptures.

But there are things you can do.

You can download apps on your phone with spiritual thoughts for the day, follow spiritually uplifting groups and people on social media.

You can take the time to “feast” on God’s word throughout the day during your current daily actions.

So, ask yourself, what are you doing right now where you can invite God’s word more into your life?

2. Pray Throughout the Day

Although I highly recommend beginning and ending your day in prayer to really communicate with the Father, I also strongly encourage you to keep a prayer in your heart throughout the day.

Include Heavenly Father in your daily life and decisions. As you do so, you’ll begin to notice that He will be the first one you turn to in all things.

He will be there to celebrate your victories and the first one to comfort you during your times of trial.

3. Remember

Do you remember the first time you knew that Christ was your Redeemer? Or that the scriptures are God’s word on the Earth?

In those moments, the Spirit touched your heart and you gained a witness for yourself that God lives and His Son came and died for you.

With these sacred testimonies that you now carry, I want you to remember and reflect on them often.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.: – Ephesians 6:16

Write your experiences down and keep them nearby so when times of doubt and trial come, you’ll have a beautiful reminder of God’s goodness and love in your life.

As you spend time in the scriptures, carry a prayer in your heart throughout the day, and remember the personal experiences that flamed your testimony you’ll continue to strengthen the beautiful light you carry inside yourself.

You will grow your faith in God during your most difficult days and know that He is always near you.

Each day can feel like a battle, but as you continue to do these 3 seemingly simple things each day, you will begin to notice your faith increase, your love for God and others grow, and you’ll be able to do those things that God needs you to do the most.

Thanks for sharing your tips on how to have faith in God in hard times. We’ve all been there, and your suggestions help to bring the focus back to Him when things around us aren’t going that well.

Love this! Great post! The verse that I always go back to during the hard moments is, “Be still, and know that I am God.” I’m always needing the reminder to BE STILL and just KNOW. Sometimes God doesn’t call us to move or do, sometimes he wants nothing from us but to be still and pursue him and let HIM move and do. I’m always always always needing this reminder!

    1. I absolutely love that verse of scripture. You are completely right about allowing God to do and show forth his Hand. Thank you for sharing your sweet testimony, Katie. Bless you, for doing so.
