A fun, kid-friendly Halloween recipe that you don’t want to miss! These Halloween chocolate spiders require only 2 ingredients and are made in minutes. No oven cooking required.
One of the most challenging things for parents is to find kid-friendly anything, especially for really young kiddos.
And the holidays are no exception.
As parents, we often think, “Oh that would be so much fun when Jimmy gets older,” or “I wish Sally was old enough to do this.”
And we find ourselves constantly waiting for our kids to “grow up” just to be left dumbstruck about how quickly their childhood goes.
I’m going to be honest, as a parent, there is no time like the present.
Even if the activity is going to be messy, clothes will get dirty, and patience will be tested.
When all is said and done, the frustrations won’t be remembered by us parents, but the children’s smiles and the lessons they’re learning will be.
And for me, these Halloween chocolate spiders is one of those memories.
My mom would make this holiday treat every year (minus the googly eyes) and there would be messes from us kids, everywhere!
Yet, this was something we ALWAYS looked forward to making and eating.
Another reason why I love these Halloween chocolate spiders is there is no oven or stovetop to turn on, and with only two ingredients, there is so little that can go wrong (hopefully).
The recipe below makes 15-18 really big spiders.
If you have little ones with small mouths than you can either make smaller sizes (with more spiders) or change the amount of ingredients.
You always want one more cup of chocolate chips per chow mein noodles, (so, 2 cups chocolate chips to 1 cup of chow mein noodles).

Kid Friendly Halloween Recipe – Chocolate Spiders
Ingredients:
- 5 cups of chocolate chips
- 4 cups of chow mein noodles
- Googly eyes for decorations (if desired)
Instructions
Place two microwave safe bowls on the table. Put the chow mein noodles in one bowl.
Place the chocolate chips in the second bowl.
Microwave the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals.
Stir the chips every 30-seconds until the chocolate is completely melted and is a bowl full of chocolate-liquidy goodness.
Place the chow mein noodles into the bowl of chocolate, one cup at a time.
Stir until all of the noodles are in the bowl and covered with chocolate.
Place on your table a sheet of wax paper.
Then spoon at least 2 Tablespoons (for smaller spiders) and place the “spider” onto the wax paper.
Repeat until all of the chocolate and noodles are gone.
If you’re decorating with googly eyes, place them on the spider before the chocolate hardens.
That way the eyes will be held into place by the chocolate.
Allow your spiders to sit to give the chocolate time to harden (between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the temperature of your home).
Once the chocolate is set-up, eat, enjoy, and share!
Place the spiders on a plate and cover with plastic wrap.
Always place the spiders in your fridge for safe keeping.
These spiders will last up to a week in your fridge.
I hope you and your family have as much fun making and eating these chocolate spiders as we do every year!
