What Does the Bible Say About Being a Godly Mother?

Quick Navigation

The Bible says a lot about the important role of mothers.

In the Old Testament, we see mothers like Sarah, Rebekah, and Leah who were faithful women and great examples to their children.

In the New Testament, we see Mary, the mother of Jesus, who was chosen by God to bear His Son.

And we also see Lois and Eunice, who were commended for their faithfulness in teaching their children about God (2 Timothy 1:5).

These women all had different backgrounds and circumstances, but they all shared a common goal: to raise their children to love and serve God.

As Christian Mothers Today…

As Christian mothers, we have the same goal.

We want our children to know God and to follow Him with all their heart, soul, and strength. But how can we achieve this goal?

The Bible gives us some specific advice:

First of all, we are to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6).

This means that we must take an active role in teaching our children about God.

We can’t just sit back and expect them to learn on their own.

We must be intentional about sharing our faith with them.

Secondly, we are to model godly behavior for our children (1 Timothy 4:12).

Our kids will not only learn from what we say but also from what they see us do.

If we want our children to follow God, then we must first lead by example.

Finally, we are to pray for our children continually (Ephesians 6:18).

Our Purpose As Mothers In Israel

This is perhaps the most important thing we can do as parents.

We need to pray that God will give us wisdom as we parent, that He will protect our children from harm, and that He will draw them close to Himself.

Being a godly mother is not easy.

But it is worth it.

Because when we raise our children according to God’s Word, we can be confident that they will grow up to be men and women who love and serve Him with all their heart.

What Is The Biblical Role of a Mother?

The role of a mother is one of the most important roles in society.

The Bible gives mothers a high position of honor and respect.

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).

This verse shows that God Himself places a high value on mothers.

In fact, the fifth commandment is the only one with a promise attached to it.

Furthermore, the Bible instructs children to obey their parents.

“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord” (Colossians 3:20).

This verse shows that not only is it important to honor mothers, but it is also important to obey them.

Obeying one’s mother is a sign of respect.

A mother’s role is toward her home, family, but primarily to God.

She will be held accountable for the nurture, welfare, and well-being of her husband and children.
